For one, I'm glad that summer is passing. Northerners are most likely pulling out their hankies at the thought of a long, cold winter ahead, but after a long sizzling summer on the bay, I'm ready for cooler weather.
My bikini sunshine days are done, and I will warn you sun worshipers out there that the end result of tanning may not be so pleasant. Not only does over tanned skin begin to resemble elephant hide with age, but I am living proof that it does cause skin cancer. For example, last March I lost the left tip of my nose due to a squamous cell. After plastic surgery, the end result is pretty good, but it's a constant reminder that I'm now paying dearly those bikini days! If you check out the above photo, you can see a portion of the scar which runs from between my brows, down to the tip.
Why the cast? Well, why not finish summer off with a bang--or at least a broken wrist and ruptured thumb tendon! In a few days I'll be having tendon replacement surgery so that I can move my left thumb again. Don't worry, it hasn't stopped me from typing. Alleluia for the Dragon Naturally Speaking program; I can now dictate my story!
Speaking of story, I'm very excited to continue working on my newest, and I hope you will find it as fun as I do!
